10 Indians dishes you must try

Indian cuisine includes a wide range of regional and traditional dishes from around the Indian subcontinent. These cuisines vary significantly due to differences in soil, climate, culture, ethnic groups, and occupations, and use locally available spices, herbs, vegetables, and fruits.

Religion, particularly Hinduism and Islam, as well as cultural choices and traditions, have a big impact on Indian cuisine. So here we are going to mention some of the best Indian dishes that you should try.

1.Biryani :

First and the foremost dish which is going to come out of the list is Biryani. Biryani is a timeless classic that requires no explanation. India has so much to offer in terms of cuisine, but the mouth watering biryani is one dish that all Indians agree on. When it comes to sampling this melting pot of flavors, one is spoiled for choice, as local and hyperlocal variations have grown into unique varieties of biryanis.

A handi of biryani is a complete dinner in and of itself, containing rice, meat (or veggies), and spices. A handi of biryani will suffice for any formal or informal gathering of friends. This traditional dish is infused with aromatic spices and rich flavors in every spoonful. The dish's fans swear by its unusual flavor. However, most biryani fans are unaware that, despite its many regional variations, the dish did not originate in India. It also has many sorts of varieties in both veg and non-veg.  So, give it a try and I bet you are not going to regret it.

2. Sarso ka saag :

Second dish that I’m going to bring out is Punjab’s most famous dish which is Sarso ka saag. Sarson Ka Saag does not require an introduction. A famous vegetarian dish from North India that is best served with Makki Ki Roti (a flat bread made from maize flour) and a dollop of desi ghee (homemade clarified butter). Sarson means mustard in Hindi, and Saag means greens. Sarson ka saag is essentially a gravy made from mustard leaves and spices. Other greens like Spinach (Palak) and Chenopodium (Bathua) are added to this curry to cut down on the bitter taste of mustard leaves while also increasing the nutritional value and taste.

Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki Roti are a traditional Punjabi pair. This combination may be found in practically every dhaba and restaurant in North India, particularly during the winter months. Forth my neighborhood, I am surrounded by North Indians who eat this dish virtually every day for breakfast, and I am fortunate to get my part without having to put in any effort to prepare this delectable spread. I learned how to make this dish from a neighbor and attempted it for the first time at home. Our taste buds were delighted with the dish, and we ended up asking for more.

3. Vada pav :

When you think of Mumbai, the first thing that comes to mind is Vada Pav. What exactly is Vada Pav? Aaloo vada or bonda in a pav (Buns) with mint chutney and dry garlic chutney. Just the dry garlic chutney is my favorite.

It may appear simple, but only a few people have perfected the technique of preparing it properly. When you visit Mumbai, you should absolutely eat this food. I am a huge fan of fried food, and one of my favorites is vada pav. It was something I had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well, I won't ask you to do that because it resulted in me gaining ten kilogrammes. After every 500 meters, you'll see a Vada-Pav stall. Even so, not every restaurant serves the best Vada-Pav. My eyes welled up with tears of excitement when I saw fresh vada coming out of the frying pan. I'm hungry again, so it's time for another.

4. Chole Bhature :

Chole bhature was created in Delhi in the 1940s and is now popular throughout North India. Pickles, onions, mint chutney, and a glass of lassi or Chaas accompany this delectable dish. Chole bhature is widely available in Northern India's street food restaurants. You can, however, prepare it at home.

Because Punjabis enjoy spicy food, they want to add it in their diet whenever they want. When coupled with a hot, spicy, and sour chole dish, the crispy puffed Bhatura becomes irresistible. That is why Punjabis can't seem to get enough of this delectable cuisine. Chole Bhature is more than simply food; it's one of the most enticing delicacies to satisfy your taste senses completely. We're confident you won't be able to stop yourself from eating more cholesterol after just one bite. If you've ever visited the North-Western part of India or lived in Delhi, you're well aware of the spicy and delectable dishes available. Treating your stomach with the goodness and warmth of some of Punjab's spice-laden delights is not only an obligation, but a necessity.

Chole Bhature is one such delectable and flavorful dish from Punjabi cuisine. Fried flatbreads and zesty chickpea curry combine in this dish. Many people in Northern India consider it to be one of their favorite breakfast/snack foods.Furthermore, it can be eaten for lunch or dinner. For Punjabis, there is no set time for eating chole bhature.

5. Pav Bhaji :

Pav Bhaji is a popular Indian street snack where spicy mashed vegetables are served with a pat of butter on top of dinner rolls or buns. It doesn't get any better than this when it comes to street food!

This Pav Bhaji recipe is spicy and tasty, and it's simple to make vegan by swapping out the butter for vegan butter! You are seriously missing out if you have never tasted this in your life! Pav Bhaji is a popular Mumbai-based Indian street snack. It comes with spicy mashed veggies and dinner rolls. Pav denotes bread, while bhaji denotes vegetables. The pav bhaji masala spice blend is used to flavor the meal, which is completed with heaps of butter and cilantro!

It was created in the 1800s when city cotton mill workers had to work long hours and frequently skipped meals, leaving them hungry. So pav bhaji was devised to feed these laborers during those times as a quick and easy lunch.

Depending on how it's produced, there are various sorts of pav bhaji. There's also a Jain variation that's free of onion and garlic. Then there's Kathiyawadi Pav Bhaji, which is famous in Gujarat's Kathiawar region and uses certain indigenous spices. There's also Khada Pav Bhaji, which has no mashed veggies (khada=straight).

6. Kheer :

Kheer is a traditional Indian rice pudding made with just three ingredients: rice, milk, and sugar. And I believe that is why it is so often prepared in India, because the basic ingredients are so widely available. However, it is the most popular and lovable dessert of Punjab. There are more than three components in my recipe, but they are all optional and add-ons. My mother always cooked a basic rice kheer with only rice, sugar, and milk.

When we say kheer in India, we usually mean kheer made with rice.

However, various ingredients like tapioca pearls, carrots, and almonds can be used to make kheer. I enjoy all varieties, but if you're searching for a traditional Indian dessert, you can't go wrong with a bowl of rice kheer, or chawal ki kheer as we call it in Hindi.

7. Aloo Tikki :

The aloo tikki offered in North Indian street carts are commonly packed with a spiced peas and paneer or chana dal filling and served with chana masala or chole (spicy chickpea curry). The onions, sweet tamarind-jaggery chutney, and fiery green chutney (cilantro+green chilies dip) are then added to the dish. Curd (yogurt) is sometimes added as well. Of course, you can create plain potato patties without the stuffing. Aloo Tikki sans filling is also delicious.

Aloo tikki is also known as aloo pattice or aloo patties in Western India, and it is normally made without any filling. The process of preparation is similar, with some differences in the spices used.

A well-known street food These crisp aloo patties are also known as Ragda pattice and are served with Ragda (white peas dish) in Mumbai.

8.Butter Chicken :

Butter Chicken is a joyful, spice-laced comfort dish that never fails to satisfy. It's also probably the most well-known and popular Indian meal. A perfect combination of creaminess, sweetness, and spice is required for the ideal Butter Chicken. To make a decadent dish that you want to bury your face in, all levels must sing in harmony.

Interestingly, Butter Chicken is not a "home-style" meal; it was invented at a New Delhi restaurant in the 1970s as a method of sprucing up unsold tandoori chicken. It was an instant smash, and it has since become the dish most associated with Indian cuisine around the world. So, give it a try.

9. Kadai Paneer :

Paneer and bell peppers are cooked in a spicy masala in Kadai Paneer, a classic paneer recipe. It's one of the most well-known paneer dishes. It's available on practically every Indian restaurant's menu. When we went out to eat, I recall always ordering it. In Indian cookery, a kadai is similar to a wok. We use it to make stir-fries and a variety of other dishes.

Kadai Paneer is a lively, zesty, and strongly spicy paneer meal that can be enjoyed at any time of year. Onions, tomatoes, capsicum (green bell peppers), and Indian spices are used in this dish.

10. Rajma Chawal :

Last but not the least, the dish in our list is Rajma Chawal. I don’t think that there would be any child in India who doesn’t like Rajma Chawal. It’s a perfect sunday brunch for a get-together.

Red beans (rajma) and cooked rice make up this simple Indian dish (chawal). The sauce for the red beans in rajma is traditionally created with onions and tomato purée. This dish is a complete vegetarian meal that may be served for either lunch or evening.

Spices like chili peppers, cinnamon, bay leaves, ginger, garlic, coriander, and cumin can be added to rajma chawal if desired. Although the recipe is simple to make, it does take some time because the beans must be soaked overnight before being cooked.

You must be eager to try all those recipes. If you are a citizen of Canada or you want to try marvelous Indian food then you must visit Mint leaf Restaurant.
